Sound art, as much as poetry, is offering us tools for reading the world that are endowed with subtlety and sensitivity. Thanks to technology, we now have scientific proof that plants can be heard and that they listen. As the flora is at the center of research on survival at a time when ecological decline is unstoppable, we wondered how we could create a setting in which, through sound art, surrounded by the rich collection of the Botanical Garden, the listening audience could reconsider the complex relationships we have with the plant world. Moving from sensory perceptions to historical or political landmarks, and from food to models of regeneration or design, the themes offered by plants are manifold. Through a selection of sound pieces, meetings with artists, auditions, and a performance dedicated to gardens, plants, and nature in general, we hope that the Botanical Garden’s audience will join the ORIZONT SONOR festival and explore with us the ability of sound to decipher the world we live in. Program curated by Anamaria Pravicencu and SEMI SILENT.
