Ghost Villages is a project in development by Mirian Kolev (Bulgaria), which began as an experimental music album featuring sounds from the terrain recorded in abandoned villages in the Tryavna Mountain region. Later developed with photographs taken in these same villages, it takes the form of an audiovisual concert – live music featuring field recordings, combined with various instruments and a projection of filmed footage.

Mirian Kolev is а musician, composer and multidisciplinary artist, who works in experimental, electroacoustic, ambient, improvisational music sphere and sound art. He lives in the mountains of Bulgaria and presents his music worldwide. He is using sound as a tool to explore different environments. His work focuses on uncovering the hidden sonic landscapes , using sound to reflect the intersection of human-made and organic worlds. He was always inspired by the nature and environment in his music, but in recent projects, he has engaged with the environment directly through field recordings, contact microphones, and sound-generating devices. This approach allows him to immerse himself in the places he explore while uncovering new dimensions of sound that often go unnoticed. His goal is to create sound works that foster a deeper understanding of the spaces we inhabit and the stories they tell.
